4 Ways To Promote Your Restaurant and Increase Revenue

Being in the point-of-sale industry, we work with lots of bars and restaurants and over the years we have seen some amazing marketing campaigns to breathe new life into a bar or restaurant. Today, we’re sharing four of those creative ways we’ve seen to market your restaurant and increase revenue.

Before we get started, make sure you know your customer base, target demographics, and have keen insight into your business challenges. Also, take a look at your food and beverage margins so that you know where you can give the best deal.

Pro tip: Your highest profit margin item is the best to choose for a promotion.

Without further ado, here are our top 4 marketing campaign ideas for restaurants.

Leverage Holidays

Nowadays, there’s a holiday for everything (we just celebrated Talk Like A Pirate Day last week)! Looking ahead at the holiday insights calendars online, you can find a holiday that speaks to your brand. Are you a bar or pub? National Pretzel Day is April 26, 2020. Knowing that holiday is coming up, you could offer 1/2 of pretzels for the month of April and on the day of National Pretzel Day pretzels could be free with the purchase of a pint. You’ll drive traffic to the bar, plus increase repeat customers.

Pro-tip: Use this time when bar traffic is high to promote your next event.

Bundle items

This is a great promotion when you know your customers and have a deep understanding of what are your most popular items - and items that are a bit out of reach.

Take a look at your best selling mid-priced item, bundle it with the same item, and include a high-priced item. Take a look at what that would cost and knock 15-20% off. If you make this a weekly deal, customers will remember and look forward to revisiting.

For example - if the best selling item on your menu is enchiladas, the offering would be two enchilada meals + a pitcher of top-shelf margaritas for a fixed price. Sounds like the perfect date night to us!

Launch a new offering

If you’ve invested in a new location, or a new menu item, now is the time to promote it. It may seem like an obvious promotion, but it’s amazing how many places don’t think to offer any incentive to come visit the restaurant for the first few weeks.

Opening a new location? Reward your customers with a “first 50 people”-style giveaway! Offering a new item? Discount it the first day it’s available!

Establish a Loyalty Program

Offer your guests an incentive to keep coming back! The key to this is picking something with a large threshold for a free meal or a discount to make it worthwhile for you. Some great examples of loyalty programs offerings -

  • Every 10th coffee is free

  • Buy three burger meals, get the next for 1/2 off

  • Free meal or side for their birthday
