Top Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Sacramento

Ahhh, St. Patrick’s Day - a time we can all come together to drink green beer and Irish car bombs while celebrating….wait…what do we celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day?

Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on the 17th of March each year. In the 17th Century, Saint Patrick's Day was made an official Christian feast holiday and is observed by the Catholic Church, the Church of Ireland, the Lutheran Church, and the Eastern Orthodox Church. Saint Patrick’s Day celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general, and commemorates St. Patrick and the celebration of Christianity in Ireland.

In Sacramento, many still celebrate the religious commemoration of the holiday, but we also see it as an excuse to celebrate traditional Irish culture with a few of our own fun twists - like green beer! All over Sacramento, bars and restaurants will include traditional Irish foods and drinks on their menu during the second week of March, and there are also parades and other events if you’re feeling like celebrating!
