Restaurant openings in Sacramento in 2020

We’re 15 days into the new year and it seems like restaurant closings have been the height of conversation every day. Some Sacramento staples and newcomers all closed with the new year and we’re so sad to see them go - especially our customers The Press Bistro and Sail Inn Grotto!

But with every closure there seems to a silver lining. New expansions and new restaurants have been announced in the last few weeks that will open some in the Capital City. Below we’re sharing the restaurants we’re most excited about visiting when the open later this year!

Good Vibes Vegan Cafe & Herbs

A new vegan cafe to Curtis Park will be opening soon offering vegan eats and treats! We are looking forward to seeing what local entrepreneur Jaeda Barnes does with this concept and we can’t wait to try all the vegan meals!

Shake Shack

The New York-based chain will be opening two locations in the Sacramento region this year - the Ice Blocks in midtown and at the Galleria at Roseville. Delicious burgers, custards, fries, and shakes will all be available to us soon!

Scott’s Seafood - Folsom

Scott’s relocation into the Historic Folsom Station has been a few years coming and it looks like 2020 will be the year they open. We’re looking forward to checking out the beautiful new space and enjoying the seafood dishes we’ve all come to love from Scott’s.

Odd Cookie Bakery & Bar

This new addition will fill the location previously filled by Blackbird on Ninth Street. The bakery will serve specialty cupcakes and lots of savory sandwich options. Deep-fried and single-slice pizza will also be on the menu.

Taco Bell Cantina

You can say you’re not excited about this - but we won’t believe you! Taco Bell Cantina only has a few locations and Sacramento is next on the list. The Cantina serves the Taco Bell menu items you’re familiar with, plus alcohol including beer and freezes made with rum, tequila, or vodka.

Zocalo - Folsom

Locally owned Zocalo will expand to the old Macaroni Grill location on East Bidwell Street in Folsom. This will be the fourth local location for the mexican restaurant.

Cajun Kraken Seafood House/Shell Shock Seafood House

The name has yet to be determined, but the space that once held Woody’s Grill & Bar will now be home to a new dining concept - cajun seafood! The Country Club Plaza location will serve delicious seafood eats inspired by French Louisiana fare.

Nash & Proper

We’re not sure yet where they will be located but Nash & Proper is getting a brick & mortar! This beloved food truck won this year’s Calling All Dreamers contest for a restaurant location and we can’t wait to see what they do with their space and menu. Nashville-inspired hot chicken anytime sounds like a big win for Sacramento!

Bad Axe Throwing Co.

This chain business will serve food, beer, and wine alongside ax throwing adventures. What could go wrong?

Fahrenheit 250 BBQ - Roseville

Once located near Sacramento State, Fahrenheit 250 BBQ announced that year that they would be moving to Roseville into a much larger restaurant space. We can’t wait to check it out!

Babes

A new concept from the team behind Pushkin’s Bakery, Babes will serve vegan and gluten-free donuts and ice cream. It will be located in a new lofts/retail space at 24 and J Streets.

Iron Horse Tavern - Folsom

The Palladio at Folsom has had many new downtown staples join the center in the past few years, including Mas Taco Bar. Iron Horse will open their second location in a new building in the center later this year.
